How does PetSafe Microchip Cat Door work?

The Microchip Cat Door only opens when a pet with a programmed microchip walks up to the door, so you won’t have to worry about other animals in the neighborhood wandering into the house. Programming a microchip to the door is quick and easy. You can program up to 40 pets making it great for multi-cat families. If a cat in your family doesn’t have a microchip, they can still use this cat door. Purchase a separate Microchip Cat Door Key and attach it to your cat’s collar. Customize your cat’s access with the 4-way lock on the cat door. Set the door to locked, unlocked, in-only or out-only to keep your favorite feline safe and secure. Installing this microchip cat flap is a DIY project. You can install the door into most wood, PVC and uPVC doors.

Caution:

Small children can pass through door.

PetSafe Microchip Cat Door Directions:

  • Install the PetSafe Microchip Cat Door using the included instructions.
  • Program the Cat Door - Have your cat nearby for programming. Once in learn mode there will be 60 seconds to program the door. Insert four AA batteries into the battery compartment. The unit will automatically turn on. Set the manual lock to the In-Out position. Press and hold the mode button until the LED turns red. The door is now in learn mode. Quickly place your cat’s head in the tunnel to scan the microchip. Once recognized, the red light will turn off and the door will unlatch.
  • Set the Mode - Manual mode, allows exit and entry for all without the use of a microchip. Automatic mode allows selective entry and only allows programmed cats to enter. Learn mode to program up to 40 microchips.
  • Train your cat to get her comfortable with your new cat door.
  • Never force your cat through the door.
Tip:

Train Your Cat to Use the Cat Door - Create a positive association with the cat door by feeding or playing with your cat next to the door. Once comfortable, tape the door up during feeding and play time. Allow your cat to explore. Encourage your cat in and out of the door with treats. Once comfortable, release the tape and allow them to push the door themselves.
