What is PetSafe Electronic Exterior Pet Door?
Give your pet their very own key to their personal pet door! This electronic dog and cat door comes in small and large sizes. Installing your pet door is a simple DIY project and can be installed into any standard-size paneled, wood, metal, or PVC door that is 1 1/2 - 2 inches thick. The Electronic Door can detect up to five programmed Electronic Keys and also operates in two other modes: fully locked mode and unlocked mode. How does PetSafe Electronic Exterior Pet Door work?
The Electronic Pet Door comes with 1 Electronic Pet Door Key that attaches to your pet’s collar. When your dog or cat walks towards the Pet Door, the door senses the key and unlocks. This makes sure that your pet is the only one coming into your house, not the neighborhood bunny or squirrel. The Electronic Pet Door works with up to 5 keys making it a great option if you have more than one dog or cat in your family.

PetSafe Electronic Exterior Pet Door Directions:
- Install the PetSafe Electronic Pet Door using the included instructions.
- Set the Sensitivity Level - Attach the key to your pet’s collar. Secure the collar to your leg, just below the knee. Stand directly in front of the door. The key will be about 2.5 feet from the door. Press and hold the Mode-Reset button down. The indicator lights will begin to cycle. Release the button when the green light is illuminated. Press and hold the Mode-Reset and Learn buttons down at the same time. All three indicator light will flash at the same time. Slowly turn the sesitivity knob counter-clockwise to the minimum position. Turn the sensitivity knob clockwise until all three indicator lights flash at least six times. Do not adjust the sensitivity knob higher than necessary.
- Test the Sensitivity Level - Press and hold the Mode-Reset button down. The indicator lights will begin to cycle. Release the button when the yellow light is illuminated. Move at least 10 feet away from the door and wait until the flap locks. It may take up to 15 seconds for the door to lock once the key is out of range. Slowly walk back towards the door. When the key is in range, about 2 feet away, the door will unlock.
- Change the Operation Mode - Press and hold the Mode-Reset button down. The indicator lights will begin to cycle. Release the button when the desired light is illuminated. The light will stay solid for two seconds, then go out. Red indicator light is Locked mode, Green indicator light is Unlocked mode and Yellow indicator light is Automatic mode.
To avoid interference and ensure optimal performance of the PetSafe Electronic Pet Door, it is recommended that household appliances and common electronic items be placed at least two feet away from it and that the Electronic Key on your pet's collar be attached away from metal ID tags.
