How does PetSafe Happy Ride Dog Safety Seat Car Seat work?
The included Happy Ride Seat Belt Tether attaches your dog’s harness to the seat belt to keep them from roaming in the car (for optimal safety, we recommend using a crash-tested Happy Ride Safety Harness, which is sold separately). The sturdy, rigid frame is easy to assemble and install in the front or back seat of any car, truck, or SUV with seat belts. The strong, lightweight plastic panels lock together with no tools required. Because your pup is safely secured in its special spot, and your seats are protected from pet hair and scratches.
Caution:
Do not attach the seat belt tether to your pet’s collar.
PetSafe Happy Ride Dog Safety Seat Car Seat Directions:
- Assembly - Assemble the car seat using the detailed instructions included in the package.
- Acclimate - Every pet takes time to get familiar with a car seat. Before setting the car seat up, make sure your pet is comfortable using it. Begin with the car seat on the ground. Allow your pet to appraoch the car seat on his own and reward with treats and praise when he does.
- Installation - Pass your vehicle’s seat belt through the opening, the seat belt tether, and the opening on the other side of the frame. Buckle to secure. Once your pet has adjusted to the seat, attach the tether to his harness. Do not attach the seat belt tether to your pet’s collar. Adjust the tether so that he cannot jump out of the seat.
- Cleaning - Remove the liner from the frame. The fabric liner pieces can be cleaned in a washing machine with cold water and line dried. Wipe the frame with unscented soap and warm water. Make sure all parts are completely dry before reassembling.
During installation refer to your vehicle’s manual for information on locking the seat belt. This is typically found with information regarding child restraint installation.
